Using a single 52-card deck, two players each take ten cards and race to organize their hand into melds – sets of three or four cards of the same rank, and runs of three or more consecutive cards in one suit. The deal is random, but skilled players win consistently through careful card counting, reading discards, smart melding order, and knowing when to go out versus when to keep improving the hand. With three to six players the hand size usually shrinks, often to seven cards, so more people can share the single deck while the draw, meld, and discard rhythm stays identical. The purest form, in which no melds may be laid down until a player can put their entire hand down at once, rewarding patient hand-building over gradual melding.
Some players instead end the deal on the spot and score the deadwood. Deadwood is any card left in your hand that is not part of a completed meld when the deal ends. A set is three or four cards of the same rank in different suits; a run is three or more cards in consecutive order within a single suit, such as of hearts. The first player to meld every rummy gaja casino card and discard their last one goes out and wins the deal. Points are calculated based on the total score of melded cards minus the points for the remaining cards in hand.
Hands are played until someone reaches 200 points, and the highest score wins. They collect the points for every card left in the other players' hands. You can take the top card of the draw pile or the top card of the discard pile. The rest of the deck goes face down in the middle as the draw pile. Four players each get 7 cards from a standard 52-card deck. Only the player who goes out scores, and going out means getting rid of every card in your hand before your opponents do.
More Card Games
Rummy is the classic melding card game, played here by 4 players. Cards deal from the deck, glide across the table, snap into melds, and pop up when selected. This can for example happen when all players have only one card left, and there are no possible lay offs on the melds on the table. If a player has not melded or laid off any cards during the game, but can get rid of all his cards in one turn earns a bonus, his points are doubled! If the deck is depleted for a second time then the hand is considered a stalemate and finishes with no one getting any points. After the cards are dealt the deck is put facedown on the table, and one card face up next to it, to start the discard pile.
